Poecilotheria

Typusart ist Poecilotheria fasciata. Die Gattung Poecilotheria bewohnt die Regenwälder Indiens und Sri Lankas. Es handelt sich um baumbewohnende Vogelspinnen. Die Temperaturen in den Biotopen sind eher gemäßigt. Stellenweise kann sogar Schnee fallen.

Bei Gefahr lassen sich die Vertreter dieser Gattung mit angezogenen Beinen auf den Boden fallen und flüchten in die Vegetation.
